The 3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener SJ3219 is a black, polypropylene reclosable fastener with a rectangular base that measures 13 mm x 50 mm. It has extended edges and a stem density of 250 stems per square inch. This fastener is designed to overcome the challenges of aligning and installing screws and hidden fasteners. It offers a simple installation process that does not require any additional tools. How It Works

The 3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener SJ3219 is designed with extended edges that can be inserted into a same-width channel where attachment is desired. The polypropylene base grips the inside of the channel and holds tight. The fastener can be mated to a second Dual Lock fastener attached to a piece of trim or other part, securely joining the two parts together. When two pieces of the fastener are pressed together, the stems flex and the mushroom heads slide past each other. After passing the opposing mating piece, the stems snap back into their original position and the opposing mushroom heads interlock. These fasteners provide high tensile strength but can be easily opened by cleaving or peeling open the closure. Alignment and re-alignment are simple and no special tools are required. This means that the Dual Lock fastener can be used to attach components before they enter the final assembly plant, reducing the number of parts and assembly time.

Stem Densities

The stems of the Dual Lock fasteners offer more strength than hook and loop closures, yet they can be easily peeled apart. The combination of stem densities and the engaged area allows for adjustable and proportional engagement and disengagement force to meet specific application requirements. The Dual Lock fasteners are available in three different stem densities: 170, 250, and 400. The Dual Lock fastener SJ3219 has 250 stems per square inch (25mm), providing a tight hold, and can be mated to Type 170, 250, or 400 fasteners.
